Hello, and welcome to my site. My name is Becky Mason and I am the creator of Northern Flaree. A British girl living in a breathtaking part of Canada, British Columbia.
Northern Flaree was born in November 2019. It was my birthday. My boyfriend knew I liked to create things in my down time. He came across a wood burning tool whilst shopping in the city and decided to buy it as a gift. Pyrography? What the heck is that? I'd never even heard of this type of art before. I borrowed some fire wood off my neighbour and decided to give it a go. The rest is history.
In a crazy world, discovering a passion that keeps you grounded and smiling is the best thing to have stumbled upon.
What Is Pyrography?
Pyrography is the art of burning or scorching designs onto natural surfaces such as wood or leather. Using applied techniques and temperature control can make an eye capturing piece of art.
Another phrase this is also known as is "Wood Burning".
Different methods and tools can be used during wood burning to give the desired effect. The beauty of wood burning is the amount of canvas freedom you have. Whether it be soft basswood, sturdy oak, hard maple or grainy pine. You get to explore all these mediums, discovering what works best for you and your creative mind. There is no right or wrong technique, each artist and their art is unique.
